Spanish Red Wine Escape (Seven Nights)
We will explore many historical, cultural, authentic, and breathtaking sites.
You will visit the “Gate of the Sun” Puerta del Sol in Madrid. The Oso or Bear is the symbol of Spain's Capital.
The Valley of the Fallen (dedicated to all the souls lost in the Spanish Civil War) is where General Franco is buried. Inside the mountain is the largest cathedral in the world.
The Plaza Mayor in Madrid is rich in history from executions, weddings, bullfights, tournaments, and inquisitions. However, it is now home to cafes, shops, bars, concerts, art, and many singular events.
The Gran Via is known for its ornate design and upscale shopping. Commonly referred to as “The Spanish Broadway” it is an extremely popular choice for nightlife in all of Europe. The “street that never sleeps” has theatres, shopping centers, and a display of early 20th-century architecture such as Vienna Secession and Art Deco styles among many others.
The Museo del Prado is considered the home of one of the premium art collections in the world. It presents thousands of European paintings, sculptures, and other works of art.
"The Hidden Park" offers cultural leisure, sports, historical, and architectural happenings. It’s most prevalent scenes are the Lake, the Velazquez and Glass palaces, both belonging to the Phillippine Exhibition of 1887.
The Mercado de San Miguel is a covered market, built in 1916. The Market is known for its popularity and location in central Madrid. It is within walking distance of Plaza Mayor, and a gourmet tapas market with an abundance of vendors who sell an assortment of authentic foods and drinks.
The Cathedral which is consecrated to Santa Maria de la Almudena, a name which has Arabic origins: al mudayna, means "the castle". Has plenty of deep and rich roots in history. Including that of Toledo.
Together with nearby small streets that forge the Huertas district, is one of Madrid's more energetic squares, with hundreds of tapas bars, terrace cafes, pubs, restaurants, and even Irish bars. Plaza Santa Ana is located within a short walk from the Plaza Mayor and the Puerta del Sol.
The Palacio Real is One of Spain's many royal palaces. However, it is not the official residence of his Majesty the King of Spain, but rather where state ceremonies and official banquets take place.

Penafiel & Laguardia
The beautiful city of Penafiel is the capital of the Ribera del Duero. Penafiel is famous for its wine and its Plaza de Coso.
Just down the road from Penafiel, is Curiel de Duero where you will stay in the recently renovated Castle Hotel.
After two nights in the Ribera del Duero, your next stop will be Laguardia. Laguardia is a stunning medieval small town located in the Basque country.
The famous Ysios Winery is just a few minutes from your hotel and it will be one of the first bodegas you visit in La Rioja. Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the winery sits on the foothills of the Cantabrian mountains and it is designed to blend into the landscape.
Working with our partner, Rioja Wine Trips, you will be guided by local wine experts on a full day wine journey through Rioja Alavesa.
Every evening, you will join Sam Garza on the tower of the castle hotel and sip delicious red wine and watch the sunset.
"After dropping off my luggage at a nearby nicely appointed room in a small B&B-like apartment building arranged by Sam, we set out on foot to “walk about town”. The post-siesta evening was fun- filled. We visited a few local pubs and had dinner at the oldest restaurant in the world. During my trip, I also met some of Sam’s friends including owners and staff at several establishments. Each new day was marked by things to do such as long walks and visiting places like the Prado Museum. I am thrilled that I had Sam as my guide!"
“We consulted with World Travelers Today about whether or not to cancel our trip to Spain following a terrorist attack that happened near the hotel we booked. Sam helped us weigh our options and provided excellent advice on how to become cognizant travelers without missing out on the adventures we were anticipating. We felt confident and safe throughout our whole trip thanks to Sam's highly detailed guidance. He knew the area like the back of his hand and was able to route us to incredible experiences we may have otherwise missed. The trip culminated with a rooftop proposal in Barcelona--a memory we'll never forget. We have Sam to thank for encouraging us to seize our opportunity to experience this extraordinary city and culture. We'll have memories and stories to tell for a lifetime! Thanks, WTT!”
